This page contains information for people subscribed to lists on LiteracyTent. Some basic questions are answered here, and links to further information are provided.

How do I subscribe to a list?

The easiest way is to visit the list's page, and subscribe using the form. Public lists are shown on the Public List page. Click a list's name to go to its page, and then:

  1. Enter your email address in the box provided
  2. Pick a password and type it twice, and click "Subscribe." (Don't use a high-security password for this, as it will be sent in plain text - it is used only for setting your options if you want to change them.)
  3. You will be sent a confirmation email at the address you entered (to prevent people from gratuitiously subscribing you); reply to the email (or click the link in the message) and your subscription will be confirmed.

Note: When you confirm your subscription, you will be sent an e-mail with your password and information about your options page, and instructions on how to access this page. You will also receive a reminder on the 1st of each month containing this password and link. You will need this information to change your options or unsubscribe from the list. PLEASE DO NOT LOSE THIS EMAIL.

Also note: If the list isn't visible on the page, or if there is no subscription option on that page, then the list may be closed or private. In this case, you will need to contact the list administrator for further information.

Where is my options page?

The easiest path to your options page is in the initial email you received when you joined the list, or your monthly password reminder email. A link to your options page is included in this email, along with a reminder of your password.

If you do not have this email, start at your list's page. If your list is public, it will be listed on the public list page at http://lists.literacytent.org/mailman/listinfo. If it is private, you can go to that page, and add a slash and your list name to the end of the URL in your browser's address bar, and press "return".

The URL for your list's page is http://lists.literacytent.org/mailman/listinfo/(your-list-name). For example, if your list's name was 'abc', its URL would be http://lists.literacytent.org/mailman/listinfo/abc.

Access your options page by scrolling to the bottom of your list's page, entering your email address (the one you are subscribed with) in the box below the line that begins "To unsubscribe from (list)..." and clicking "unsubscribe and edit options." The next page is the login page for your options; enter your password in the box provided and click "log in". This will take you to your options page.

If you have lost your password, you can click "Remind", and a password reminder will be mailed to you immediately.

How do I unsubscribe from a list?

The easiest way is from your list page, as listed in your monthly password reminder email. Simply follow the link provided in the email, enter your password to log in, and:

  1. Click the "Yes, I really want to unsubscribe" checkbox
  2. Click "Unsubscribe"

You will be unsubscribed immediately.

If you have lost your password, you can still unsubscribe as follows:

  1. Go to the list page (see the instructions in "How do I subscribe to a list?" above)
  2. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to the "subscribers" section
  3. Enter the email address you subscribed with in the box provided and click "Unsubscribe or edit options"
  4. Click "Unsubscribe". You will be sent a confirmation email; reply to it (or click the link in the message), and you will be unsubscribed.

If you are having trouble or need help, you can email mailman-owner@lists.literacytent.org. Be sure to mail from the address you wish to unsubscribe with, and include the name of the list(s) you wish to unsubscribe from.

How do I change my options?

There are a great number of options you can set about how the lists work for you. If you subscribe to more than one list, each list retains its own set of options.
