Green Jobs - What's the Connection

For ABE and ESOL Learners

 

Session 1:  Friday, June 13, 2008

     9:30 to 12:00

     HCC, Kittredge Room 226

                                      by those attending session one

 

 

This 2-part workshop provides an overview of the national and statewide landscape of the growing green economy and examines practical ways in which adult literacy learners and programs might engage.  Examples of promising practices from other parts of the country will be included.

 

As a result of this training, participants will be able to:

 

·        Define and describe the green economy and green jobs

·        Outline the projected job growth in green jobs, on both the state and national level

·        Examine roles for ABE / ESOL/ GED learners and programs

·        Consider and apply relevant case studies

 

 

Presenter Alex Risley Schroeder, principal of Finding Earth Works, a consulting practice that connects adult literacy students and programs to information and training about green jobs, also works as a Green Careers Coach in Franklin and Hampshire Counties.
