FROM VANILLA TO VIRTUOSO

Teaching Vocabulary in the ESOL Classroom





In this experiential workshop, participants will explore the "why, what, and how" of teaching vocabulary in the ESOL classroom.  Through a number of activities participants will increase their awareness of the criteria involved in "knowing" a word, learn a variety of practice activities, and create a lesson plan for students based on the students' interests and abilities.



Presenters:  Laura Porter and Diane Worth, Center for New Americans

They created and presented this workshop at Network 2007.  This "version" is expanded and improved!
