STAFF ASSISTANT, COORDINATOR    (Mass. College Of Liberal Arts)

NORTHERN BERKSHIRE ABE/GED/ESOL/TECH PROGRAM/Learning Services:

Reporting to the Director of Learning Services, the Adult Basic 
Education/GED/English as a Second Language/Tech

Program Coordinator is responsible for student recruitment, assessment, 
placement and referral to all aspects of the

Northern Berkshire Adult Basic Education Program, including: conducting 
weekly enrollment meetings; maintaining

open dialogue with faculty and staff regarding student involvement and 
related issues; maintaining communication

with community partnership members and related state and local agencies, 
convening ABE Advisory Board; advising

 and assessing students through both individual and group sessions; 
documenting student service; coordinating in-service

 training opportunities for faculty; and preparing appropriate grant 
documents and required reports.

BA degree in appropriate discipline required; Master's preferred, as well as 
a minimum of one year's experience in

program administration; demonstrated expertise in student advising and 
community planning; sensitivity to and awareness

 of educational needs of ABE/GED/ESOL students; working knowledge of 
ABE/GED/ESOL program goals and issues,

including the principles, practices and procedures related to programs 
designed for educational needs of ABE/GED/ESOL

students; excellent written, oral and organizational skills; familiarity 
with SMARTT dbase software, MAPT and Best +

assessment tools, MA DOE Guidelines for Effective Adult Basic Education and 
Performance Standards for Community

 Adult Learning Centers.

Starting July 21, 2008.  Review of applications will begin immediately and 
continue until position is filled.
