This is a reminder of this workshop happening next week. There is still time to sign up!

How Teachers Teach

A panel of four teachers, both those with a lot of experience in ABE and those who are newer to the field, will discuss how they teach. Their presentations will focus around the following questions: What inspires you as a teacher? Why do you teach? How do you structure your classes? How do you meet your students' needs while also meeting the requirements related to assessment, goal setting and more? Do you collaborate with others in your program to share teaching ideas and methods? What do you recommend to other teachers looking for new teaching ideas? What are the biggest challenges for you as a teacher and how do you meet these challenges?

Each teacher will give a short presentation, followed by a question and answer session. There will also be a general discussion on teaching among all participants who attend.

Panel Members: Susanne Campagna (Hampden County House of Corrections), Caroline Gear (International Language Institute), Jacki Lozada (CareerPoint/Holyoke Community College's GED program), Carol McGlinchey (South Berkshire Educational Collaborative).

When: January 25, 2008 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Holyoke Community College, Kittredge Center, Room 302.
