TEACHING JOB READINESS

in the ABE and ESOL CLASSROOM

 

Are your students being prepared for success in the workforce and in the community?  During this workshop you will explore how you can integrate workforce skills into your current curriculum, no matter what the content is.  

 

As a result of participating in this workshop, you will be able to -

·        Understand what the SCANS, EFF,  and national skills standards are for job readiness

·        Identify ways that you are already applying these standards in your classroom

·        Evaluate your current instructional strategies and classroom management techniques for their effectiveness in teaching job readiness skills

·        Develop a plan for how to integrate workforce skills into your curricula.

 

Presenter:  Martha Oesch - has over 15 years experience in workforce development and adult basic education. As a consultant, she works with community-based organizations on the design and implementation of integrated employment and training programs and also conducts statewide staff trainings.
