Puerto Rican and Anglo Communication Patters at Work and in the Classroom: A Roundtable Discussion

This spirited round table discussion will begin with a delightful and informative video on differences between Anglo and Puerto Rican nonverbal communication and culture, followed by a short presentation of Kate Koski's research on Puerto Rican and Anglo communication patterns in a local service organization. Utilizing the information thus obtained, participants will discuss the following questions

Have we experienced these differences in our practice and how have we interpreted them?

What meaning does an understanding of these differences have for us as ABE./ESL teachers or workforce development practitioners?

How - or should - understanding these differences affect our practice?

When: Thursday, November 29, 2007 from 12:30 - 4:30 at Holyoke Community College, Kittredge Center, Room 302

Presenter: Kate Koski, CultureWorks Consulting.
