Student Support Coordinator



This is a part-time (12 hours/ week) 14-month contracted position, starting December, 2007 until February, 2009.  The Student Support Coordinator will provide academic and general support to students who are participating in a Youth Worker Credential Pilot Program based in Hampden County.  The Program offers weekly workshops and two college courses to youth-serving staff in P-21 partner agencies.  Workshops and classes meet Wednesday mornings from 9:00 to 12:00.  The Student Support Coordinator's schedule will be primarily weekday mornings and will involve some afternoon hours, but will be decided upon by the Coordinator along with the participants of the program.



 Responsibilities of the Student Support Coordinator will include:



  a.. Regular (weekly) contact with students to monitor their progress, attendance, completion of assignments, and participation in class.


  a.. Provide academic and other support, as needed, individually and/or in small groups, on coursework and situational issues that may be impacting the student's performance in the program.


  a.. Meet with instructors as needed regarding students' needs and performance.


  a.. Maintain regular contact with the lead agency to facilitate student support, to understand the program, and to provide updates and reports.


  a.. Attend the program workshops and college courses, as needed.


  a.. Attend meetings with the P-21 Professional Development Committee.


The position pays $25/ hour.
