Presenter: Kate Koski, CultureWorks Consulting. Kate has a wealth of experience in looking at issues of culture and communication. Her doctoral work focused on cross cultural communication and education. She has an M.A. with a focus on intercultural management and a B.S. with a concentration in conflict resolution. She has presented workshops on cross cultural communication, group dynamics and related issues throughout New England.

This spirited round table discussion will begin with a delightful and informative video on differences Anglo and Puerto Rican nonverbal communication and culture, followed by a short presentation of Kate Koski's research on Puerto Rican and Anglo communication patterns in a local service organization. Utilizing the information thus obtained, participants will discuss the following questions
Have we experienced these differences in our practice and how have we interpreted them?
What meaning does an understanding of these differences have for us as ABE/ESL teachers or workforce development practitioners?
How - or should - understanding these differences affect our practice?
