Dear ABE and ESOL Practitioners,



Please join Holyokeworks and SABES in a discussion about the connections between ABE/ESOL and Workforce Development, and how educators and employers can work together to help our learners meet their employment goals.



On Tuesday, June 19, 2007, from 10:00 - 12:00, in room G221 at HCC, Larry Bay from Holyoke-works, an agency that is both an ABE Provider and Workforce Development Program, will facilitate a sharing group that will include discussions on any or all of the following topics:



  a.. What is being done in the ABE/ESOL programs in our region to help low-level students enter and thrive in the workforce,
  b.. Who the (potential) employers are in our communities,
  c.. How to approach employers as partners, find out what their needs are, and help them view our students as part of the future labor pool,
  d.. How to use employer information when planning lessons,
  e.. How to access the support services our learners need (in addition to their academic and work skills development)
  f.. Anything else the group decides to talk about
