POSITION AVAILABLE FOR

Accounting Manager
 

The Literacy Project (TLP) is seeking an Accounting Manager who will be responsible for the overall fiscal and accounting management of the agency, working in the administrative office in Greenfield, MA.  The position is part-time (25 hours per week) with an annual salary in the low to mid twenties, depending on experience (and with a review in six months).  We also offer an excellent package of pro-rated benefits.  The starting date is ASAP. 

 

Responsibilities include: processing accounts payable and accounts receivable; general ledger reconciliation; performing bank reconciliations; processing payroll, including mandatory benefits and quarterly/annual tax filing; billing of funding sources; monitoring and managing cash flow; keeping the executive director apprised of the fiscal status of the agency; preparing all reports and documentation for the annual audit; assisting in the development & revision of budgets for the agency, sites, and grant applications; meeting all internal and external fiscal/financial requirements, including compliance with state and federal regulations; oversee agency's insurance policies.  

 

Qualifications include at least three years experience performing bookkeeping, payroll, contract & grant management, billing, and budgeting tasks in a non-profit organization; computer experience and experience with fund accounting software (Sage MIP preferred) and Excel; willingness to work as member of a team; excellent communication skills; demonstrated cooperation and flexibility.  

 

The Literacy Project is a non-profit, community-based organization offering adult basic education and GED preparation services at our classroom sites in Amherst, Greenfield, Northampton, Orange and Ware, and through our Distance Learning Program.   Additionally, we provide adult education services to Even Start Family Literacy programs in Greenfield, Northampton and Orange.  The agency incorporates community development, civic participation, health, computer technology, and arts/culture in its teaching.  TLP's philosophy is based in an empowerment model that is learner-centered and participatory.
