Full-Time Adult Basic Education Instructor

Position involves teaching basic and developing reading and writing 
skills with two groups of adult learners as well as basic math. Day 
classes are held Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday, and evening classes are 
Tuesday and Thursdays. Mondays are for planning and doing student 
intakes. All-staff meetings are held monthly and collaborative planning 
among teachers is encouraged.

Curriculum is developed based on the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks 
and program’s own frameworks as well as the interests and goals of the 
learners.

Informal counseling, setting up and doing intake assessments and class 
placement, support of volunteer tutors, documenting student progress, 
record-keeping and helping learners set and meet goals are all aspects 
of this position.

Desirable Experience & Training:
Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in Education
Experience teaching adults; background in teaching Reading, English as a 
Second Language, or Special Education considered
Master’s degree in Education or related field preferred but not required

37.5 hour week, includes day and evening classes, four day work week; 
full benefits package; year-round position; 42 weeks of teaching. 
Position is contingent on multi-year grant funding from Mass. Dept. of 
Education.
