Student Leadership and Civic Participation: A Session for Instructors and Others

Facilitator: Julie Rapoport, The Community Consulting Initiative

 

Over the last year, a group of local ABE directors met regularly to discuss how ABE providers can make student leadership and civic participation an integral, ongoing component of their organizations. Now, it's time to share those ideas with area instructors - and to talk with you about your own successes and challenges in carrying out student leadership initiatives.

 

Please join us as we:

 

–          Learn how some area programs have made student leadership a priority in their programming and in their organizational structure;

–          Discuss the primary and critical role played by classroom teachers, counselors, and others who have daily contact with learners;

–          Learn from the successes and challenges of others who have carried out student leadership and civic participation projects; and

–          Plan for a meeting of learners from various programs who will meet and learn from each other.

 

This session will be held on Friday, March 2nd, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, at Holyoke Community College, Building G, Room 221. Please park in Lot D or E.
