There is a new publication out called, "Through the Lens of Social Justice: Using The Change Agent in Adult Education." It is a compilation of many past articles from The Change Agent and looks at how to use them. The following is from the Introduction:

"The Change Agent publication has been a resource for teaching about issues of social justice for more than 10 years. This book is a celebration of the paper's unique contribution to preparing adults to be informed decision-makers and participants in a democracy. The themes The Change Agent has covered over the years (and continues to cover) range from healthcare to economic literacy, from work to immigration. For each topic, it invites teachers and students to go beyond simply learning the rules and conventions of how to navigate that particular system...This book is both a gathering of The Change Agent's best and most timeless pieces and a guide for educators in how to use the paper. Its purpose is to build flexibility and ease in using all that the paper offers, and to help teachers apply those strategies creatively."

The publication is edited by Andy Nash is published by the New England Literacy Resource Center (NELRC). It is available from NELRC for $18.00 (Contact Leah Peterson at 617-482-9485 or changeagent at worlded.org.). The SABES Library does not yet have a copy but soon will and that will be available for lending. For that, contact Sandra Darling at sandra.darling at umb.edu. Finally, we have a copy that you can look at and read at SABES West (we can no longer lend our materials out).

(We normally don't advertise materials that are for sale; however, The Change Agent publication that is published twice annually is something that SABES gives out for free and something that is used by many practitioners. Therefore, we thought this publication would be of interest to folks. It will also be available for borrowing soon at the statewide SABES Library.)
