PROGRAM COORDINATOR - HCC ADULT LEARNING CENTER

(part-time benefitted)
Grant Funded until June 30, 2010. Contingent on funding.
(Currently in the second year of a five year MA Department of Education ACLS grant.)
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Adult Basic Education program coordination;
GED Preparation teaching experience, strong written, interpersonal communication,
technology and community outreach skills; ability to work effectively with a diverse student
body and community.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Education or equivalent, grant writing experience; awareness of other
community resources for referral; experience working with Holyoke-based community
education programs and educating diverse groups, and knowledge of and experience
working in the Holyoke community. Experience working with budgets and MA Department
of Education ACLS funded programs. Bi-lingual and bi-cultural.
General Statement of Duties:
Coordinates the operation of the HCC Adult Learning Center, an off-campus community
education program providing evening basic Literacy and Pre-GED preparation classes in
Holyoke. Also instructs one class and supervises staff. Responsible for managing
program budget. Reports to Dean of Community Services.
Responsibilities:
- Selects classroom materials and ensures that curriculum is aligned with MassDOE curriculum frameworks.
- Instructs one Basic Literacy or Pre-GED class.
- Responsible for SMARTT System data reporting in collaboration with classroom instructor.
- Works with CareerPoint Executive Director and staff (provider of program space) and Juntos Distance Learning
Program staff closely to insure smooth operation of services and proper intregration of technology.
- Program and staff development.
- Handles community outreach and community planning.
- Participates in Juntos ABE coordinator meetings and related activities.
- Manages program budget and monitors college match budget.
- Writes grants and seeks additional program resourses.
- Recruits and completes intake and student assessments.
- Trains, directs and evaluates staff.
- Attends statewide meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Hours:
27 hours per week for 52 weeks
Compensation:
$30,527 annualized. Benefitted
