Developing Effective Partnerships
Part 1. Dec. 7, 1-4 p.m., Room #8, Devens Learning Center (DLC)*
Part 2. Dec. 14, 1-4 p.m. Room #8, DLC*
Thinking about getting involved in workplace education? In this two-part
workshop, we will explore the many different reasons for offering
workplace education, and how your program can market workplace education
services to employers, unions and workers. We'll review workplace
education funding sources in Massachusetts, identify methods and
resources for researching potential employer and union partners, and
discuss what makes a good partner. We will discuss how to deal with
employer and union expectations, and we'll role play making the first
pitch to a potential employer or union partner.
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
- Define what workplace education is and identify reasons for offering
workplace education programs.
- Identify workplace education funding sources in Massachusetts,
especially DOE/ACLS workplace education grants.
- Analyze potential employer and/or union partner perceptions and
expectations for workplace education, and employer / union cultures.
- Develop criteria and identify types of employer and/or union partners
where workplace education is needed and appropriate.
- Identify methods and resources for researching potential employer
and/or union partners.
- Develop presentations/arguments for potential employer and/or union
partners for offering workplace education.
