I know I had previously sent you information on the CUNY Fatherhood
Academy.  I wanted to send the information again as we have updated our
flyer and formulated our orientation schedule.  Forwarding this to the
reentry network list serve would be a huge help in our recruitment
process.

The CUNY Fatherhood Academy at LaGuardia Community College is an
intensive 5-month (3-day a week) training program which is sponsored by
the NYC Young Men's Initiative.  We are currently in the recruiting
stages and are specifically targeting the program to young fathers
between the ages of 18 and 24.  We plan to conduct our next orientation
group on February 15th from 9:30AM-12:30PM in room C416.  The
orientations will continue throughout the year.  The program is designed
to provide opportunities to young fathers such as Education (GED/College
Enrollment), Job Development/Job Placement, various workshops on
parenting, career counseling, life-skills specific to young fathers,
financial literacy and best health practices.  We will also have family
outings when possible to help build the bond between parents and
children.  Our overall goal is to help these fathers help themselves by
obtaining the skills they need to become self sufficient and in turn
accept the responsibility to remain or become part of their children's
lives.   The program is holistic in nature and provides real
opportunities for young fathers to become successful.
