 Our monthly meeting is tomorrow, Wednesday February 15th, from 2-4 pm. John Jay is hosting, at the address below. The agenda is also below.

NYREN Monthly Meeting

Proposed Agenda-February 15, 2012 

      I.        Pursuing a collective impact agenda: Overview of a short, medium and long term strategy (5 minutes)

a.    Connecting ongoing, on-the-ground work to collective impact goals

b.    Meeting goals:  

                                          i.        Start of a Rikers Access working group and their charge

                                        ii.        Identification of selection committee for NYREN staff positions

                                       iii.        Feedback about NYREN staff job description 

                                       iv.        Agreement to do survey about other action area working groups

                                        v.        Agreement to look at MOU and submit feedback in writing before next meeting

 

    II.        Discussion about Access to Rikers as a NYREN priority  (30 minutes)

                                          i.        Should this be an immediate priority/goal for the NYREN?

                                        ii.        Defining the problems and goals:  What are the urgent challenges and needs relating to Rikers access?

                                       iii.        Who are key stakeholders in this work?

                                       iv.        What are barriers that need to be addressed?

                                        v.        What do we know and what do we need to know?

                                       vi.        How should this work proceed: 

1.    Formation of a working group

2.    Discussing who else needs to be involved

3.    Development of timeline

 

   III.        Updates on Ongoing Projects (15 mins)

a.    Services Matrix and DOE Contact List 

b.    "Strategies for Engaging Reentering Students" 

 

  IV.        Developing a medium and long term agenda: (30 mins)

a.    Working with the Center on the Ford grant:

                                          i.        Staffing: Center researcher and NYREN staff position

1.    Job descriptions

2.    Selection committee for NYREN staff position

                                        ii.        Advisory group for Ford project

b.    Other Working Groups 

                                          i.        Enabling Post-secondary Access and Success in NYC/CUNY

                                        ii.        Survey to identify other working groups

 

   V.        Memorandum of Understanding part 1- feedback on first part via email (5 mins)

  VI.        Updates and ideas for next meeting (10 mins)
