Subject: Involving Students in Community Planning
On Thursday, April 10 from 10 AM to 3 PM at NECC, Lawrence (Rm. 144), there will be a training on:
INVOLVING STUDENTS IN COMMUNITY PLANNING with Michele Sacerdote (former student leadership coordinator) and Ernest Best (Director of MassAAL,
the state student leadership organization).
The training will overview the ways in which students can and have been effectively involved in partnership meetings, assisting with community
surveys, and/or informing the community planning effort through student council work. The training will provide concrete tools and strategies
for involving students.
Student leadership is blossoming across the state. There are more student councils, students have played a crucial role in advovacy, students lead health teams, and students lead mini-grant projects in a variety of areas.
Now is the time for more explicit involvement of students in community planning where students can bring their voice and the voice of potential
students to the planning. Please join us at this important training where you will get important ideas and resources. All are welcome --
directors and community planning coordinators are especially encouraged to attend.
