Subject: Re: [Partnerships] "What's in it for me?"
I wish I had something substantial to offer on the involvement of
businesses,
but I don't.
In fact, I am also looking forward to hearing from community partnerships
that have successfully involved businesses in the community planning
process.
To date I think businesses, and especially the large corporations and
service
industries that will be providing (probably the only) employment opps to
adult learners who do not go on to higher ed in the future, have not been
involved
in any meaningful way. It is not enough to come to the planning table
without giving up something (e.g., space, cash, company volunteer tutors,
etc.).
And, I understand that "me" in this context is a reference to organizations,
but organizations do not have a "voice," only their employees and
constituents
do. I still think the question needs to be rephrased.
