[Partnerships] Recommendations to DOE wanted

Hi Cathy and all Community Planning Coordinators:

The following are my ideas for recommendations for
improvement:

1. DOE needs to be clear and concise about their
expectations. Thus far, I have found their directions to be
vague and 'seem to include everything but the kitchen
sink'.

2. CP Coordinators would benefit greatly from having a
model assessment of assets and needs to follow from the DOE.

3. It seems expectations are to have a very professional,
well done assessment of our communities. Unfortunately, the
monies allocated by the DOE will not support the hiring of
an outside consultant to do this type of work. Thus many
learning centers are doing this on their own and DOE needs
to be realistic.

4. I have enjoyed the trainings that SABES has presented
which provide us with actual hands on experience and work
that we can take back and use. Example, the program on How
to conduct a Focus Group was a good illustration of a
program that helped CP coordinators develop a plan to take
away and use immediately.

Hope this helps. Karen Pervier, Maynard Adult Learning
Center
