GA Celebrates
Literacy Week
Georgia Governor Roy Barnes (D) recently released a proclamation continuing
a tradition that designates the first week in September as "Literacy Week"
throughout the state. Literacy week convenes literacy leaders, providers,
employers and supporters to share information, exchange ideas, and report on
research and planning for future literacy initiatives. The Georgia Office of
Adult Literacy hosted its annual Adult Literacy Celebration, bringing
together over 1200 students, teachers, administrators and businesses
statewide. The celebration featured presentation of the Governor's Workplace
Learning Awards to Georgia businesses sponsoring workplace learning
programs. Contact <mailto:jdevard at dtae.org>
