Earlier today Carl Guerriere wrote:
"I understand that no congressperson should be left out, but
shouldn't we be focusing on the republicans?"

And Kenny Tamarkin suggested:
"I believe that it is very important for progressive
legislators to hear that they are not out there all alone
with their progressive views."

My two cents:
Yes, to both of you. We won't protect our funding without
the support of moderate Republicans. And we do need to make
sure our long-time supporters - on both sides of the aisle,
but heavily Dem's - know that this is an issue that matters
to us. With much larger programs like No Child Left Behind,
Individuals With Disabilities in Education Act, and Pell
Grants getting so much attention, even our friends sometimes
forget we're out here. We can't take anyone for granted
these days.

Carl makes a good point though. As a long-term strategy -
for all our issues, not just this appropriations push -
here's a list of moderate Republicans. If your Senator or
Congressperson is on this list please go the extra mile to
develop a relationship with them and/or their staff this
winter/spring.
