Thanks for clarifying your position.

Dyslexia is not a "disease" that can be "cured."  It does seem that 
retraining is possible for some of the 3-5% of the population that have these 
neural difficulties.  But for those who have difficulty, due to inadequate 
teaching, for example, remediation can be done, and there are teachers on 
this list who have spoken up about that.  The terms "dyslexic," "dyslexia" 
are tossed around rather outrageously, I think.  For this group, 38-40% (I 
have to check Lyon's figures, here) of readers,  the Italian system of sound 
symbol relations would be easier of course than the English system.
