A "Draft Working Document, Research-based Principles for Adult Basic
Education Reading Instruction" was distributed at the Conference April 28,
2002, in San Francisco. When completed, it will be a very useful map for
teachers. Over a number of topics it gives Definitions, Principles and
Trends in Adult Basic Education. It is the product of the Reading Research
Working Group, established by NIFL in collaboration with NCSALL. I
understand what Katherine means about educational research; I think this
document will be helpful to teachers and administrators.
