I saw the Toyota Family Literacy ad yesterday inthe New York Times, and I was 
bemused...it looked like an ad for a kitchen update, model family around the 
kitchen counter (but where was dad?).  This type of ad will get middle class 
Times readership and let them know the name of Toyota as linked to family 
literacy, maybe that was the point.  The little girl was holding a very big 
(heavy) book, and for a more accurate portrait of reading it should probably 
go flat on the counter.

however, these are trivial comments.  We should think about our target 
audience or audiences.  How do advertisers sell products that take work to 
use?  There is a psychological piece we haven't looked at.
