In thinking through the messages of Gail, Nancy, Archie, and others on this
matter, given the importance of any such appointment (perhaps now, moot?)
and the importance also of representation (representing students and
representing the field), that any such recommendation might be best made by
VALUE?
This might be accompamied by a position statement by VALUE on the role that
they would like the NIFL Board to take over the next few years in regard to
various matters related to adult literacy, with the nominee obviously
supporting those various positions articulated by VALUE.
This would also guard against any resemblance of tokenism and the prospect
of a student being coopted by other factions represented on the Board, which
is perhaps also a concern among some.
Just my opinion. What do others think?
