Tom notes that NIFL and NCSALL research has resulted in an overwhelming
528,000 new dimensions of learning, and he has not even considered adult
education theory. Adult education theory is sometimes divided into
progressive, humanist, liberal and transformative traditions and each has
at least 5 prescriptions for practice. This results in 10,560,000
dimensions for learning, and we have not even considered relevant
dimensions of learning from psychology and sociology. What's the point? Is
it that knowing too much confuses teachers, and that therefore, it's better
they be ignorant.
