[NLA] NLA Discussion: Adult Literacy Programs' Response to 9/11

David, Thought you might welcome this response to Paul Jurmo's e-mail.
The COABE Board of Directors held their fall meeting in Providence this 
weekend. Under "new business" I read Pauls e-mail into the minutes. My intent 
was to get the subject of the Sept. 11 into our minutes. It prompted a long 
and substantive discussion  about what COABE could do. Lo and behold, before 
i knew it, a sum $$$was allocated to be sent to the NY Literacy center to 
assist in the recovery effort. I also provided a handout including several 
contributions which have been made to the list...This prompted another 
discussion about a rapid response system, etc..Please know that you effort in 
maintaining the NLA list has been much appreciated and contributes to moving 
the field along in responding to timely issues, There is more but it's Sunday 
morning and I am still recovering from our marathon Board meeting in 
Providence.
