[NLA] NLA Info: NIFL Board Meeting Summary

Andres,

The relation of the education level of the parent (mother) to the 
performance in school of the child is one of the few things in our field 
which has been researched and is established.  Perhaps you are saying 
that given that this is known, the "Leave No Child Behind" effort ought 
to pay more attention to parent literacy in order to positively affect 
the education levels of children.  If so, I agree, but I see no evidence 
of this yet.  I am concerned that the House may be re-directing adult 
literacy resources toward children, which, if true, is shortsighted.

I wonder if any NIFL Board members who may be on the NLA list, or who 
are getting copies of these messages,  would like to add to this discussion.
