[NLA] Info: Email in Advocacy Correspondence

Last week, I received a couple of questions much like this
one: "Is there a reason we should fax our letters as opposed
to emailing them?"
Here's how I answered ...
Email is okay if you've developed a relationship with
someone in a legislator's office with whom you correspond.
However, in most offices at this time, unsolicited email is
discounted by a factor of 10. (One hard-copy letter is worth
10 email messages.) This is only a rule of thumb. It's the
convenience factor: less convenient = deeper conviction.
This WILL change over time, and some offices are ahead of
the curve in encouraging email correspondence from their
constituents. This trend is still in its infancy though.
