NLA Colleagues,

Monday, September 30th, is the last day to get your Congressperson to
sign on to the House "Dear Colleague" letter. Please make your follow-up
phone calls now to ask your Congressperson to sign on -- or to say
thanks for doing so. We've contacted 80 now, with Maine as the 24th
state to weigh in -- and many more faxes and follow-up phone calls from
other states like Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, California, and others.

Weighing in: IL, MA, CT, NC, NY, RI, NJ, TX, OH, MD, VT, MN, PA, SD, TN,
MT, GA, NH, NM, LA, MO, OR, IA, ME

Thanks to those who have taken the time to fax and mail these letters.
But what has happened in the other 26 states? What happened to Michigan,
Washington State, South Carolina, Florida and others?

Keep e-mailing me when you telephone your Congresspeople (either to
DJRosen at theworld.com or to the NLA list.)

When you do a follow-up phone call, please ask for the Congressperson's
aide who deals with education. Ask if s/he got your fax. Explain that
the letter needs to be signed by September 30th. Ask "Will the
Congressman/woman be signing the letter? Do not be shy about this.

Need a Congressperson's phone number of fax number? You will probably
find it at
