[NLA] What would you recommend?

Hello:
 
We're launching a new public awareness campaign within the next few months in California, and our Public Relations firm would like to read one or two good background materials.  I'm asking for any recommendations of good materials that cover the field of adult education as a whole.  Ideally, these would be focused on California, but that's probably asking too much.
