[NLA] Breaux-Hatch NIFL Letter -- Follow Larry Fish's Lead

The aide for Sen. Dodd (D-CT) also said he has received more communications
about adult ed/NIFL than he has received about any other issue recently. He
commended the people who are coordinating this effort. He also stated that
the Sen. would have signed on regardless of the prompting, but that it was
important to see the level of interest on this issue.

As we move forward, it will be important to maintain the momentum. What is
our next (significant) issue/request/demand?

Kudos to Larry Fish! Your message is fantastic!

For those of you who missed it ...

"I called the senator's offices to add my voice to the importance of
choosing Adult Ed. professionals for NIFL, especially the NIFL president.
[VERY GOOD IDEA:] And also to thank the senators for their support of this
issue.

[HERE'S THE VERY IMPORTANT PART:] Although both senators signed -on already,
the aide I spoke to said it was still valuable for the senators to know the
extent of the concern and that their constituents follow and remain
interested in the work they are doing."

We need to get co-signers, but we also need to get Senators to take a
longer-term interest in adult literacy. Thank you's are rare and thus are
really appreciated. And it doesn't hurt for folks who haven't written to
call and say thanks if their Senator has already signed on. This effort is
about the future of NIFL - but equally important - its about friend-raising
on Capitol Hill for the future.

Thanks everyone and keep up the good work!

Best,
Jon
