[NLA] Research in adult literacy education

Dear Deborah,

I admire how you lead the healthliteracy list serv, I dip into it every so 
often to hear what is going on.

My question about "who" was a more systemic one, in which quarter, for 
example, were you feeling pressure? rather than a personal one.  I think we 
sail close enough to the wind on discussion of personalities, anyway.  

At the "Learning and the Brain" conference 3 weeks ago I felt surrounded by 
warm and fuzzy, the books for sale reflected a vast underground stream that 
runs counter to current hard edged rhetoric.  Educators were happily buying 
them, too.  I also saw neuroscientists taking notes in each others' 
presentations, great stuff.
