After the House letter effort, I received an email from Project READ's
Shauna Brown in Provo, Utah. Senator Hatch might be willing to cosponsor if
there was to be a lame duck session. Well there is one and he has agreed to
join Senator Breaux in co-sponsoring the NIFL letter in the Senate!
The "Dear Colleague" letter from Senators Breaux and Hatch should arrive in
Senators' offices today (Thursday) or tomorrow. We're under a real time
crunch here because the Senate may only be in session until the end of next
week.
Let's try to get as many Senators as possible to agree to sign the
Breaux-Hatch NIFL letter! Each of us has TWO Senators to work on. You can
use the text of the letter you sent to your Congressperson. Address one to
each of your Senators and fax it to the attention of the Senator's
legislative assistant for education issues.
Separately, I'll post the House alert updated for this Senate campaign. Can
we get 30 cosigners?! Let's rock!
