[John Kamplain]

Tonight, Chris Matthews, on his signature TV show, Hardball on MSNBC, stated
that bilingual education is a joke and that politicians who use Spanish are
pandering to Hispanics who come here and want to insulate themselves and not
learn English.

I admit I was surprised.


Kathleen,

I find it funny that you're surprised by this, considering Chris Matthew's
political orientation. The task for people on this listserv shouldn't be to
fax a right wing zealot who could care less about your opinions.

Our task should be:

1. Examine why the great sleeping giant that is American opinion tends to
agree with this guy. Is it all the media's fault?

2. Find presentable, easily digestible ways to prove this man wrong for the
benefit of the general public; whom I might add are also the main source of
the taxes that go towards many of these bilingual education initiatives.
