Colleagues,

I really appreciate Tom's latest piece.

In order to mount a sustained argument, it is necessary to do the spade work 
and have the facts, I can't see another way.  It is also necessary to ask 
people on the other side (which ever that is) to produce the evidence for 
their point of view, to listen to them carefully, and to ask questions.
