Earlier today, Nancy asked ...

"What direction do you see Mr. Regula's constituents' 'disproportionately loud voices on this issue' take?"

Nancy,

I'm hopeful that advocates in literacy programs in Mr. Regula's district can urge the House Appropriations Subcommittee chair to increase funding for WIA Title II State Grants, despite the President's call for level funding and the current budget situation.

While they are very important, so too are literacy advocates in the districts of other members of the House and Senate Appropriations subcommittees -- and House and Senate leaders, like Sen. Daschle. The voices of literacy advocates in South Dakota have been and will continue to be "disproportionately loud" too. Thanks for all you're doing!

Here are the current members of the Appropriations Subcommittees for Labor, HHS, and Education:

HOUSE
Ralph Regula, chair (R-OH-16)
Bill Young, chair of Appropriations full committee (R-FL-10)
Ernest Istook (R-OK-5)
Dan Miller (R-FL-13)
Roger Wicker (R-MS-1)
Anne Northrup (R-KY-3)
David Obey, ranking minority member, both sub- & full committee (D-WI-7)
Steny Hoyer (D-MD-5)
Nancy Pelosi (D-CA-8)
Nita Lowey (D-NY-18)
Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-3)
Jesse Jackson, Jr. (D-IL-2)

Ernest Hollings (D-SC)
Daniel Inouye (D-HI)
Harry Reid (D-NV)
Herb Kohl (D-WI)
Patty Murray (D-WA)
Mary Landrieu (D-LA)
