[NLA] Phoneme Awareness is the Key

Perhaps, short of a lot of evidence to the contrary that phonemic
awareness is *a* key.  So is motivation, so is student knowledge of the
subject matter.  So are the range of scaffold support systems built into
the instructional process.  So is the socio-cultural context of the
learning environment.

Research, so to speak, says a lot of things. I'm leery of a magic bullet.
 So far, the evidence is at least controverible.
