>           Dear Colleagues,

>           We would like to take this opportunity to let you know about
>           one of several adult education efforts currently taking
>           place at the federal level.   This effort focuses on
>           building research-based community partnerships that
>           positively impact learner outcomes.  While the working title
>           of the new effort is "Learning For the Future (LFF)", in
>           coming weeks we will identify a permanent name that provides
>           more clarity and avoids any confusion with the long-standing
>           Equipped for the Future initiative.

>           We share the goal of improving the quality of adult
>           education services and the availability of these services.
>           Collaboration among service delivery systems is an important
>           strategy to achieving this goal.

>           Thus, this new initiative develops out of a need to more
>           thoroughly explore successful collaborations within the
>           large network of systems involved in adult education
>           including community- and faith-based organizations,
>           libraries, businesses, and local providers.  The leadership
>           of the Office of Vocational and Adult Education (OVAE) and
>           the National Institute for Literacy (NIFL) are working
>           together to ensure that all the good work that is ongoing in
>           the field informs this research and development effort.  The
>           LFF initiative will complement but not replace existing
>           programs and initiatives, such as LINCS, Equipped for the
>           Future (EFF), and other adult education efforts.

>           Through the systematic study of community partnerships and
