A couple of people have asked for information on the NIFL Board nominees. I
searched the Internet; here are the websites where I found information about
some of the nominees:

Carmel Borders
http://www.nochildleftbehind.gov/media/news/051302.html

Douglas Carnine
http://interact.uoregon.edu/DSECR/carnine.htm
http://mathematicallycorrect.com (there is an essay and he signed on to
letters to President Clinton)

Carol Gambill
http://mathematicallycorrect.com/clinton.htm (signed on to the same letters
as Douglas Carnine)
http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/mathman/letter.htm
http://education-consumers.com/briefs/may2002.shtm (listed as a member of
the board or editorial committee; her listed address is South Carolina,
though, so either I have the wrong person or the NIFL nominee information
reflects how the administration got interested in her, not where she's
really from)

Jean Osborn

http://www.learningfirst.org/readingguide-pre.html#foreword
http://www.readingonline.org/critical/ACT.html (commentary on Reading
Excellence Act mentions her and Douglas Carnine)

Phyllis Hunter

Juan Olivarez
http://www.grcc.edu (President of Grand Rapids Community College)
