Debbie,
Yes, I agree that *a* Literacy Day is much better than *no* Literacy
Day. My desire to schedule the day around legislative calendars is
partly motivated by President Bush's proposal to cut federal funds for
Even Start by 20% in fiscal year 2003.
Thank you for the information regarding the origin of International
Literacy Day. I was not aware of this and appreciate your bringing it
to my attention.
