Bush has a strong interest in immigrants, especially Mexican immigrants. This may partly be because he employed household workers who were recent Mexican immigrants (yes, he paid FICA and Social Security for them) and got to know them as human beings.
I know one of these women here in El Paso. She went through Andres' literacy program and then earned an associates degree. She is now working for Andres as a literacy tutor.
When Bush was inaugerated governor for the second time, he sent an invitation to her. I paid for her plane ticket and we found her a place to stay in Austin.
She is a strong advocate for literacy programs, and really likes Bush a lot. I think she would be interested in doing what she can to promote adult ESL/literacy.
I imagine I sound like her agent, but I do not wish to disclose her name without explicit permission. She could be a strong advocate for adults, especially immigrant adults who are learning English. Since Bush did all the right legal things when she worked for him, there is no potential for embarassment for him, either.
