[NLA] NIFL Board

NLA Colleagues,

Last week Jay Cretella reported here that

	Senator Kennedy's Office has not received even 
	one comment about NIFL Board Nominees.

Several of my Massachusetts' colleagues, and I have e-mailed, mailed and 
faxed Senators Kennedy and Kerry this week.  Several of you (George 
Demetrion, Debby D'Amico, Tom Sticht -- and I hope others)  have sent 
letters to your senators and to the administration, too.  I hope that 
when we contact Jane Oates now she will say that there has been a flood 
of letters of concern that the proposed NIFL Board does not include 
adult educators and adult learners.  

Have you sent your fax or e-mail to your Senators yet?

Could someone from the National Coalition for Literacy let us know what 
happened at the NCL meeting last week? Is the NCL organizing a campaign 
of fax and e-mail writing?  If so, let's have an update here on how 
members of the NLA list can continue to help.
