[NLA] NIFL Board Member Recommended Candidates, Possible NIFL and ED Changes

NLA Colleagues,

Two other people who I think would be excellent NIFL Board members are:
adult learner, Ed Castor, co-founder and current Board Member of VALUE;  and
Bob Bickerton, State Director of Adult Education in Massachusetts, and
former AAACE and NCL National Public Policy Chairman.  Both have good
knowledge of adult literacy at a national level, can serve well in a
bi-partison environment, and would preserve the NIFL's adult education
focus.

Several people have begun sending letters to their Senators. This is
terrific.  I hope others on the NLA list will join them. Please e-mail
copies of these to Jon Randall, who is working with the National Coalition

I continue to hear, privately from NLA members and others, that a major
reorganization at USDOE may be in the works and that the role and position
of adult education my change considerably.  These are unconfirmed; if anyone
has confirmed information, please post this to the NLA List.
