[NLA] Are You Being Served?

Tom and everyone else,

Aren't we talking here about poor people?  Correct me if I'm wrong.  This is 
a word--poverty, poor--that is not used on the nla list, and seems to be a 
no-no in our culture.  I assume (could be wrong) that those who have more 
money have already learned how to read and write or have gotten private help. 
 

This seems to me a gigantic issue that people here (nla) don't talk about.  I 
know there is a poverty/race/literacy list serv, but that is separate from 
the nla.
