Dear Colleagues, I love this list because it gives even a retired adult
educator an opportunity to contribute and to learn. And being an adult
educator we all are committed to lifelong learning.
Sometime are dialogues become pretty intense...that when the moderator steps
in to reset our course...But this list as much as any national conference or
workshop offers so much to the newcomer and the veteran. It serves the field
in a very unique way...so much for the product endorsement...And David never
coached me to say this, believe me!
We also share professional goals and activities . So I would like to share
something...I have been an adult ed/literacy teacher, administrator, grant
writer..you name it.. I have had the privilege of learning from and working
with some of the greatest people and pioneers in our field and have been able
to travel to world conferences representing the US w..In 1999 I retired from
my "day" job as Director of our town's adult education program.
One of the activities I ahve always been involved in through my career has
bee advocacy and public policy...and the politics of education..I have
continued this even after retirement to do that as Legislative Liaison for
COABE...I informed COABE President Sherrie that the Charleston Conference
would be my last in that role...it was a very hard decision but we all need
to assess what we do from time to time and decide that it might be time to
move on...So that's what I plan to do...Right now, I am trying to decide how
else I can use the experience I have gain through the hlp and guidance of so
many...I'll stop here..I'm sure there are some on the list (I hope not a lot)
saying...well, it's about time..thanks for listening...
