The executive summary of NCSALL's adult development study, "Toward a
New Pluralism in the ABE/ESOL Classroom: Teaching to Multiple
Cultures of Mind" is now up on our website:
http://ncsall.gse.harvard.edu
This research brings a new perspective to how we think about our
students, how we look at the impact of participation in our programs,
and how we teach. This project is grounded in decades of work on
adult development, but this is probably the first time that the
ABE/ESOL/GED population has been part of adult development research.
The newest issue of Focus on Basics contains articles on this
research on and on adult development. Reading the new FOB issue and
the executive summary of this research will provide you with a strong
foundation for understanding the adult development perspective.
The full research report will be available in about a month.
