NLA Colleagues,
There is a $55 million increase for state grants for adult education in
the House proposed budget, but not the Senate's. Although far from what
we need, this increase would make a noticeable positive difference for
state-funded adult education programs. And, now is the time to act, if
we are to get it.
Perhaps Jon Randall -- or someone else working with the National
Coalition for Literacy -- could post a short action message to the NLA.
Who are the critical Congresspeople to call to to get support for the
House version of the state grants? What is the message we want to give
to Senators? To Representatives? It looks like a small window of
opportunity where a flood of phone calls from the field is needed. Is
that correct?
